We think no grieving family should be asked to pay to remember someone. That is why every memorial on whowasthisguy costs nothing — not now, not later, not ever.

What "free" actually means here

• Unlimited memorials. Create as many as you need — for parents, grandparents, children, friends, pets.
• Unlimited photos and text. No "basic plan" caps on gallery size or biography length.
• Guest book and condolences. Included.
• All four languages. Every memorial can be read in English, German, French, and Spanish.
• No ads on family memorials. Advertising appears only on curated notable-lives pages.
• Permanent hosting. As long as we are around, your memorial stays up.

How we pay the bills

whowasthisguy funds itself through advertising on our notable-lives section — the curated pages about public figures, artists, athletes, and historical figures. Those pages attract the traffic, the ads, and the revenue that keep the family side of the platform running.

Optional extras (coming soon)

We are working on a small set of optional paid extras for families who want to go further. None of them are required, and all of them are genuinely optional — the free tier is always enough for a beautiful memorial.

• Custom themes. Hand-designed page layouts with different typography and colour palettes.
• Vanity URLs. Short, memorable addresses for memorials you want to share widely.
• Printable keepsakes. Export a memorial as a beautifully typeset PDF booklet.
