Antoine-Joseph "Adolphe" Sax (November 6, 1814 – February 7, 1894) was a Belgian inventor and musician. He invented the saxophone, patenting it in 1846, and also created the saxhorn family of instruments. Despite a life filled with hardship and legal battles, his designs reshaped military bands and continue to influence music today.
