Welcome to whowasthisguy. By using the platform you agree to these terms. They are written to be clear rather than exhaustive — if you have a specific question, please ask.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. Younger users can still browse the public sections.

2. Your content, your responsibility

You are responsible for the content you publish. By uploading memorial content you confirm that you have the right to publish it and that you are not infringing anyone's privacy, copyright, or dignity.

3. What we won't host

• Hate speech, harassment, or incitement to violence.
• False or defamatory statements about identifiable people.
• Sexually explicit material.
• Anything intended to deceive or manipulate visitors.

We moderate manually when reports come in and remove content that crosses those lines.

4. Your rights over your content

You retain ownership of everything you upload. By publishing it on whowasthisguy you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to display it on the platform and in search results. You can end that licence at any time by deleting the content.

5. Our content

The pages we curate ourselves — notable lives, editorial pieces, the design of the site — are ours. You are welcome to read, share, and quote them with attribution. You are not welcome to scrape them wholesale.

6. Free service, no guarantees of availability

The service is provided free of charge on a best-effort basis. We aim to keep it running reliably but cannot promise uninterrupted availability.

7. Termination

You can delete your account at any time. We can suspend accounts that violate these terms after a reasonable chance to remedy, except for clear abuses which we remove immediately.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the jurisdiction listed on our Imprint page.
