John Nance Garner (November 22, 1868 – November 7, 1967) was an American politician and jurist. Known as 'Cactus Jack,' he served as Vice President under Franklin D. Roosevelt and Speaker of the House. He played a key role in New Deal legislation, despite his conservative leanings.
