Wilma Glodean Rudolph (June 23, 1940 – November 12, 1994) was an American sprinter from Clarksville, United States. She overcame polio as a child to become the first American woman to win three gold medals in track and field at a single Olympic Games in 1960. Rudolph also became a civil rights pioneer, demanding an integrated parade in her honor.
