Henry Way Kendall (December 9, 1926 – February 15, 1999) was an American physicist, mountaineer, and environmental advocate. He won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1990 for his pioneering work confirming the existence of quarks, the fundamental constituents of matter. He also co-founded the Union of Concerned Scientists.
