Will Durant (November 5, 1885 – November 7, 1981) was an American historian, philosopher, and writer. He is best known for the eleven-volume <i>The Story of Civilization</i>, co-written with his wife, Ariel. This work sought to make the vast sweep of human history accessible and unified for a wide readership.
