Antoine Laurent de Jussieu (1748–1836) was France best known for French botanist.
Antoine Laurent de Jussieu (April 12, 1748 – September 17, 1836) was a French botanist and physician. He developed and published the first widely accepted natural classification system for flowering plants in his 1789 work, <i>Genera plantarum</i>. His method of 'weighing, not counting' plant characteristics laid the foundation for modern botanical taxonomy, with many of his plant families still recognized today.
