An Education Beyond Expectation

Born in Le Havre, Madeleine was orphaned young but raised by a devoted uncle who ensured she received an extraordinarily rich education. After her entry into the prestigious Hôtel de Rambouillet, Madeleine de Scudéry soon established her own gathering: the *Société du samedi*, or Saturday Society. She became known as the first "bluestocking" of France, revered for her wit and her pioneering approach to discourse.
