John Tyndall (August 2, 1820 – December 4, 1893) was an Irish physicist and naturalist. He experimentally proved the connection between atmospheric CO2 and the greenhouse effect in 1859, explaining how Earth’s atmosphere traps heat. His work also led to discoveries like the Tyndall effect and greatly advanced understanding of radiant heat.
