George Wald (November 18, 1906 – April 12, 1997) was an American biologist, biochemist, and physiologist. He won the 1967 Nobel Prize for his discoveries concerning the visual processes in the eye. Beyond his scientific work, he was a prominent pacifist and human rights activist.
