Adlai Ewing Stevenson II (1900 – 1965) was an American politician and diplomat. He served as the 31st governor of Illinois and was the Democratic Party's presidential nominee twice. Stevenson later became the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, playing a key role in Cold War diplomacy.
