From Transient Childhood to Troubadour
Born in Roswell, New Mexico, John Denver’s early life was marked by frequent moves due to his military father's career. This constant relocation made it difficult to form lasting friendships. He co-founded The Hunger Project in 1977 and served on President Jimmy Carter's Commission on World Hunger. He established the charitable Windstar Foundation in 1976 to promote sustainable living and later founded Plant-It 2020, an environmental group focused on reforestation.
